Brera, ancient district of
Milano, full of history, art, culture, has always been the beloved area of
artists, who met at small bars, later called "caffe letterari" (literature
coffees); still today they are frequented by "milanesi" and tourists
coming here on purpose. |
 |
This district still
preserves the narrow streets paved with old cobblestones which create a
sort of passage that, in former times, was reserved for horse-drawn
carriages. |
|
The whole
district boasts many historical buildings and important monuments, among
them the "Pinacoteca di Brera", which today hosts the
Accademia di Belle Arti (Arts Academy), and the church Santa Maria del
Carmine in the picturesque square of the same name. |
 |
But Brera doesn't
mean only "tradition", today it means also exclusive shopping, small
peculiar stores, fascinating with their "real, very milanese" style, old
shops full of curiosities and vintage, unforgettable bars and restaurants. |
|
Everything can be
found in Brera, and especially all that this city has to offer. Brera is
unique and unequalled, it will win the visitor's heart. Since a year
approximately 100 traders of zone have founded the "Brera" Traders'
Association. In collaboration with
private and public Institutions, this Association promotes and organizes
several cultural, artistic and commercial initiatives, often beneficial in
order that the magical atmosphere, characteristic of this splendid quarter,
remains intact in the time. |
